Year 2020 started with many parts of the world coming under the grip of an unprecedented pandemic. My March, it became clear our country India is also no exception. Owing to its large population and low healthcare index in public health, the challenges for India were multifold. On a first look health system was bound to collapse, if thousands of citizens are to be infected daily.
Immediate goal was to save lives, even at the remotest corner of the country and that too cost effectively. Entire world’s supply chain was disrupted beyond repair owing to lockdowns and travel ban in many countries. Every country soon faced shortage of medical supplies. India had high import dependency on high end electro- medical devices. Soon India realized only way out is to become self-reliant. A huge shortage of ventilators was predicted by experts, in our country. The challenge was to deliver high quality reliable medical devices esp. life-saving ventilators as early as possible.
Zen Technologies Ltd a 25+ year old R & D focussed company in the high-end Defence Training Simulator segment, with over 1000+ deployment across the world took up the challenge. The core strength of Zen was its R & D team which specializes in hardware and software systems integration.
Identifying the need, starting April 2020, team ventured into manufacturing a prototype of critical care ventilator as per the specifications declared by Indian Health Ministry. A team of multi-skilled resources were pooled in. This group of hardware/ software engineers, Pulmonologists, Respiratory Therapists, Biomedical engineers etc embarked upon this nation’s call, by toiling day and night, in spite of the high risk of them getting infected and passing on to their family members.
The result is within five months we now have a working prototype which had cleared all electrical and performance safety tests IEC 60601, ISO 80601 etc. from world renowned NABL accredited labs.
This success inspired us to float a wholly owned subsidiary M/s Zen Medical Technologies Pvt. Ltd with registered address at Plot No 35, 36 and 37, Kancha Imarath, Near Ravirala Village, Hardware Park, Shamshabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddi, Telangana, India, 501510.
This venture in future will be engaging in manufacturing cutting edge medical devices in critical care, remote diagnostics and monitoring, training medical simulators etc.
